Churchmouse Spring

Hello from Geeves! I collected this tea on my Seattle trip, on a little island called Bainbridge. 10/10 travel destination, we took the ferry over on a beautifully clear day and while still cold because Seattle winters are like that, I had no problems with the weater! Up the main street, we stopped in a cute bookstore, and I asked where I could get some great tea. They recommended Churchmouse Yarns and Teas, and I picked their Spring blend because it looked the most rare and interesting. It did not disappoint!

We’re not the photography-talented people of our apartment, so this is actually extremely good work for us!

Geeves’ Notes:

  • 9.5/10
  • A really nice green tea blend! We chose to drink this tea a couple nights ago because we really wanted to put something in Maggie’s green cast iron cups, and it was a very solid choice.
  • I adore floral teas! Jasmine is my favorite, no doubts about it, and this being a Jasmine blend made me so happy. It’s such a light tea, and I could definitely drink a whole pot of it alone. I will definitely reorder, the price is great at $14 per 4oz bag!

Maggie’s Notes:

  • A whopping 9.5/10 from me folks.
  • So I really enjoyed this blend, obviously! There was just a hint of citrus. I’ve had some teas where the lemon came to my door and punched me out. And this was decidedly not that. It was like I saw the lemon at a coffee shop and we talked a little about how life has changed before parting amicably to go about the rest of our days. The smooth citrus note really complemented this blend.
  • The tea base itself was very smooth. So, very in line with what you find on a Chinese green tea base.
  • There was a hint of something floral/sweet from the elder flower, like Jasmine with something else. The floral hint did well to smooth out the citrus even more and leave a fresh “I can muster up the strength to face this cruel world again” feeling.
  • So overall I loved this blend. It goes amazingly hot, but also works wonders as an iced blend. I left .5 out of a perfect score if only because i would have liked the tea base to be the tiniest of tad bits stronger. And as said by Draco Malfoy in a Very Potter Musical, “there’s always room for improvement”
  • I’m so very sorry that I couldn’t find the gif for that quote, but take this one instead.tumblr_osuusxeo821vppjrzo1_400

TLDR:

  • 9.5/10! Our highest rating yet.
  • Tasting notes: floral green with a hint of citrus.
  • Price: great, $14/4oz
  • Recommendation: Yes, buy this! Support small business and local blenders.

Purchase here from a small business in Washington! They also sell great yarn if you like to knit.

Happy drinking, and we hope you get a chance to try this delightful blend!

XO, Geeves and Maggie
